NSFW November: Paige Young, Miss November 1968

“Painting for a living is a struggle. I have to work at it, but at least my time is my own and I’m working for myself — not for some impersonal corporation.”

About the only trend that leaves her cold is pop [art]: “It’s real and it says something about today’s culture — but I wouldn’t waste my paint on it. I can do without the pop scene in general; it gives me a headache.”

No fan of the far-out fads and plastic pleasures that abound in California, Miss November prefers such traditional alfresco activities as invigorating romps along the shore and peaceful strolls through the woods.

“If people would just sit down and really talk to, instead of at, each other, I’m sure they’d be a lot happier” (“Like Young,” Playboy, November 1968).

Not your usual playmate — besides eloquently hating on corporations and discussing her love of Whitman and Thoreau, Ms. Young also stated in her data sheet that, though she was well-known among her friends for her gourmet cooking, her real ambition was to be a successful painter, and that she hoped to one day study in Paris.

From her data sheet:

MY FRIENDS KNOW:
I’m creative, intense, ambitious, perceptive, uninhibited and very natural.

MY WEAK SPOT:
My desire to be alone. It’s probably selfish.

Paige Young killed herself with an overdose of sleeping pills July 13, 1974. She was thirty years old.

Was it proven that it suicide, or could it have been accidental?

I’ve known plenty of people who were sleep deprived and stressed out who took too many just to get some shuteye, and came close to dying. Her death very well may have been a suicide, but I never heard anything about a suicide note or if she had a history of depression or anything that proved that this was deliberate.

Turns out she killed herself with a .38 to the head. So tragic and why??!!

    Paige Young – stunning beauty!

Such a tragic end to her life. (Yet again, one cannot help but contemplate the so-called “playmate curse”.)

    Rest in peace, dear Paige.

Great Article, I also do write up of Playmates. I must say I feel that all this recent gossip surrounding her death is a load of bollocks to put it lightly. The Daily Mail may have legitimate stories, but at the end of the day, they’re a tabloid paper. All this commotion is simply sick exploitation to put more nails on Cosby’s coffin. The only other websites commenting on her death as of recent are conspiracy blogs and zines which say she was under mind control of the CIA. Her friends were so doped up at the time I wouldn’t believe anything they said either.

Anonymous is wrong. The tabloid produced an original of the police report. There seems to be an incredible amount of effort on the internet to undo Paige’s dramatic suicide. She did it to get attention for how she felt she was wronged. There seems to be a concerted effort not to right the record.

      Agreed … and correct.

The article posted on dailymail.co.uk (dated Dec. 4, 2014) shows the original 3 pages of the LA County Coroner’s report of her suicide on April 7, 1974.

      From the Daily Mail article:
“The brief report, compiled by the LA county Chief Medical Examiner, states:
‘cause of death’ as: ‘Gunshot wound to head’ and noting a ‘condition contributing to death’ was ‘suicide’.
‘Decedent [person who has died] found in residence by friend Melanie Myers, decedent lying on bed w/38 revolver in RT hand.’
      ‘Possible [suicide] note at scene.’”

      Definitely worth reading.

  6. Curvature Aficionado Says:

The death of Paige Young is worthy of review. Her suicide resulted from the culmination of abuse by Bill Cosby, John Huston … and the exploitation by Hugh Hefner. Her experience was not uncommon for Playmates during that time period. The cover-up of the facts of her suicide, even decades later, means that Paige has never received the justice she definitely deserves.

Addendum: I retract the “playmate curse” comment from my past post.

After reading the Daily Mail article, “tragic” is an understatement as to what happened to Paige.

With respect … RIP, Miss Young.

She actually shot herself in the head after being and abused by pigs like Bill Cosby and John Huston.
