Snake River Conspiracy – You and Your Friend
From the LP Sonic Jihad, treat yourself to Snake River Conspiracy’s track celebrating the joys of polyamory, “You and Your Friend.”
“Threesome” by wondermaker on deviantartIn my dreams, I can see us in a tight embrace,
doing all the things
that we never really did:
I think I’m in love with you.
Must we go run through our lives with our eyes closed
to the loving happiness that we can share?
I think I’m in love with
You and your friend,
Tobey “the Tornado” Torres, original lead vocalist for Snake River Conspiracy, and pal Theresa Beth “Tairrie B” Murphy of Tura Satan, My Ruin, and LVRS.Honest, I do,
I can’t see you and me and her without each other
And I hope you feel the same way too
(you and me and her)
I spend all my time on the telephone line,
Trying to say it just right this time,
Something that could change your mind
I know this is love and I feel it there,
I’ll whisper something so sincere
Exactly what you want to hear
l to r: Scarlett Johanssen, Penelope Cruz, Javier Bardem. Still from Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008).
Now you know the things that I say when I’m swimming
Through the flood of all my
desire (can be so unclear)
But I know I’m in love with you.
In my dreams I still see us in a tight embrace
In spite of all the things that
the people say when they stare
that’s how I know I’m in love with
you and your friend,

Honest I do, I can’t see you and me and her without each other,
And I hope you feel the same way too
I think i’m in love with you

Thank you! Beginning in September, I started adding music on to posts.
–First upgrade to a media account (I just did mp3s because I found it cost-prohibitive, but wordpress has a sliding scale that goes all the way to hosting videos.
–Then upload the mp3 you want to embed in your post.
–Once it is uploaded, copy the url of the music file.
–Go to the html editor view of a “new post” page.
–type in “[audio” –no quotes!– and then “thenameofyourfile.extension” –no quotes!– and a closed bracket “]”
–Save draft and “preview,” then, in the new window, click the play symbol to make sure the coding went right.
–Your file should appear and be ready for playing, provided you forked over the fee for music file hosting! It’s a small fee, all things considered. Hope that helped!

This song is awesome! I lol’d!
But I don’t think it’s so much “celebrating the joys of polyamory” as it is painting a dysfunctional portrait of an obsessive stalker fraudulently painting herself as willing to engage in a three-way in order to win the subject of her unrequited obsession…
…but that’s just my take. 😉

You’ve given me food for thought, because I always took as granted that she was proposing herself as a mate to both of them in good faith. Viewing the “you” as mainly plural, I never really considered it was a ploy for just the guy’s attention. But that is an obvious interpretation and I completely overlooked it — and here I’ve been listening to this song for years! I wonder why I was so easily snowed? Good thing she wasn’t calling me; apparently I’d’ve bought it! ha

LOL Our opposing theories on this could deffo lead to some deep thinking…
[initiate “overthinking it” mode]
In my case, the conclusion springs from a few things… First, the general style and attitude of SRC tend to lead me more toward a tongue-in-cheek interpretation rather than a straightforward one.
And then there’s my own personal (probably naive) belief system that tends to lead me toward thinking it more likely that a woman wouldn’t naturally be interested in a menage, so obviously there’s an ulterior motive there somewhere. And again, the style suggests “desperation”, possibly “psychosis” to me for some reason. ;))
I have a similar opinion of “friends with benefits”. While I think it’s an outstanding concept that could potentially engender world peace, I don’t believe it’s really possible. I’d tend to think that a FwB situation would almost always consist of one careless and insensitive partner who just likes to get off and one who is secretly hoping the friendship status will change as a result of the (hopefully) awesome sex.
Clearly I’ve thought about this way too much… That’s what being a professional introvert will get you. Lots of time to think… 😛
(BTW LOVED the “how to care for an introvert” pic! I SO wish I’d had that on a t-shirt when I was growing up. Hell, I could still use it NOW! Also wish someone had explained to me that introversion doesn’t mean you’re broken or crazy or hate people! I used to feel like there was something really wrong with me. …And there probably is, it’s just not THAT. LOL)

I knew a guy (total doofus, by the by) through a boyfriend, who, while we knew him, talked his pregnant girlfriend into bringing a third girl in to their relationship, a barely legal dropout who worked with him at a fast food restaurant. It worked out for about a month, as I recall.
Yes, I honestly used to think being an introvert made me as crazy as the extroverts claimed. But I don’t think I’ve ever been a jerky misanthrope; maybe just a disappointed optimist. Definitely need shirts. Perhaps satin jackets with embroidery.
