Daily Batman: The Bat Man (and his lady, Gossip Gerty)

June 14, 2010

“It took them a while to catch on that Batman would be the greatest.”

(Bob Kane, creator of Batman. October 24, 1915 – November 3, 1998. R.I.P.)

Bonus factoid: Kane’s wife, Elizabeth Sanders, played Gossip Gerty in Batman Forever (Joel Schumacher, 1995) and Batman and Robin (Schumacher, 1997), as well as portraying a “Gothamite” in Batman Returns (Tim Burton, 1992), on which set Bob Kane was a consultant.

Elizabeth Sanders as Gossip Gerty emceeing at the Charity Auction in Batman and Robin.

It would be a pretty cool gesture if Nolan contacted Kane’s widow to appear in one of his film adapatations, too, but anything kind of goes with him so we’ll see.

Daily Batman: Batman is one cool dude

PSA: Batman is one cool dude, you guys.

Nicole Kidman as “Dr.” Chase Meridian in Batman Forever.

He is so cool, he makes the ladies’ hair blow.

Daily Batman: Yes, we get it

October 25, 2009

This is such a lame jokey reference, and yet I laugh each time.

Bruce: Where will you go? The circus must be halfway to Metropolis by now.
Batman Forever (1995).

My daughter watched me do this one, and she said, “Strange words that you typed.”

“Strange? They’re not strange, what do you mea — oh, because they’re in a language you can’t read?”

She looked at me like I was Grimace from Ronald McDonaldland and said slowly, “Yes. Because of that.”

“That’s a programming language. It’s called HTML.”

“What does that mean?”

“‘Hypertext markup language.’ It tells the internet what to do.”

“You tell the internet what to do?”

“Yes, I am the boss of the internet.”

She digested this for a moment then shook her head. “No. No, you wouldn’t be.”

Sick burn.

Daily Batman: Enter the Riddler

September 13, 2009

It’s a good thing you have a buddy in this one, Bruce Wayne, because Edward Nymga and Sugar would like to take you on a strange trip.

Mr. Nygma, you'll forgive me for
being rude. But what exactly is on
your mind?

Precisely. What's on all our minds?
Brainwaves. The future of Wayne
Enterprises is Brainwaves!

It's hard to imagine anyone more awkward. The effect is
painful. Folks stare, mouths wide.

(Yes, the stage directions actually say “It’s hard to imagine anyone more awkward.” Akiva Goldsman screenplays ftw!)

And for the haters who say that Batman Forever is the worst movie out of the Batman franchise films, I encourage you to re-watch Batman and Robin and see if you don’t change your mind.
