I am no kind of good dancer: analogy?

September 10, 2009

A confession: I am no kind of good dancer. When I saw that one episode of Seinfeld where Elaine dances, I was like, “Whoa, Julia Louis-Dreyfuss has moves.” I can only dream of freestyling like that. Funny thing is, I am fair at ballroom dance like waltz and cha-cha, you know, oldtimey stuff like that. (Me? Oldtimey? The heck you say!) So I guess I am good at expressing myself physically only when it is according to a square set of rules. Oh, cheezits, is there an analogy to be had here?

No. No, I’m good. I’m out of the woods.

Because I actually straight up suck at situations where everyone normally seems to instinctively sense the rules and then follows these rules, I’m still milling around wondering if it is my imagination or do I actually get shorter in new social settings, and if I am ever found repressing my emotions it is only because I wish to better master them, not because I’m all frigid or something. Besides, I frequently fly by the seat of my pants and lord love me, I’m a sick freak in the sack (I don’t have issues; I have the whole subscription — thanks twilt for this wonderful line). I am way out of the woods on this one. Thank goodness there was not after all an analogy to be mined in that train of thought.

Like, seriously. Don’t you hate it when you have a cool thought and then you probe it a little and an analogy reveals itself about your life that makes you go, “Would you looky there, I’m a loser…WHY DID I START THINKING ABOUT THIS?”
